PROFILE
 
The Central Police Radio Training Institute is a premier Institute functioning under the aegis of Directorate of Coordination Police Wireless, Ministry of Home Affairs. The Institute started as a small Training Section catering to the in service training requirements of DCPW personnel was converted into a full fledged National Level Training Institute, as desired by MHA to cater to the needs of the State Police Radio Organisations and CPOs in the country during 1971. In the course of time various new training courses continued to be introduced to meet the need based minimum requirement for the efficient operation and maintenance of new generation of Communication equipments inducted into the Police Wireless services from time to time.




This Institute is entrusted with the responsibility of imparting training to the Officers and Staff of Police Wireless personnel of the States/UTs & Central Paramilitary Organisations in the country. Apart from this, the Institute extends the training facilities for the Police Organisations of the neighbouring countries and candidates from Nepal, Mauritius, Maldives, Swaziland, Iran, Afghanistan etc. were trained by this Institute under the Colombo Plan during the recent past.

The Technology in the field of electronics is experiencing rapid development and the new generation Micro-processor based equipment manufactured all over the world are replacing old version equipment. The introduction of this sophisticated equipment in the Police Telecommunication Network necessitates upgradation of the skill of telecommunication personnel in installation, operation and maintenance to ensure efficient functioning of the Police Telecommunication Network. In order to meet this challenge and to keep pace with the fast advancing Telecommunication Technology, courses in various disciplines are reviewed periodically to make them relevant and in tune with the present day need of the field units located in the various parts of the country.

Communication courses are also run for senior level officers of the rank of SPs and above in the Communication Appreciation and Management to enable them develop managerial skills for optimum utilization of the Wireless Communication for efficient Command and Control. Such courses also facilitate the Senior Officers to plan and design the type of communication set-up which could meet the particular organization and situations.

In view of the above, CPRTI has the gigantic task of updating the technical knowledge of the concerned Police Telecommunication personnel in the operation, maintenance and efficient management of the network by imparting them training on the ever changing new breed of communication equipment. It continues to be engaged in the pursuit of excellence to achieve the goal of guiding Police Telecommunication officers in the country.

Dedicated to the ideals of efficiency in Police Telecommunication, this Institute was established in 1971 for the purpose of imparting training to the officers and personnel of State Police Wireless Organisation/CPOs. Originally set-up with the objective of conducting foundational and in service training courses, the range and dimension of activity of this institute have now vastly increased to keep pace with the up-do-date telecom technique.
During the year 2007-2008 as many as 29 training courses have been conducted by this Institute to train about 502 personnel. Apart from conducting 10 up-gradation courses, the institute under took 19 special courses in its curriculum covering every aspects of Police Telecommunication including Satellite

Delhi, being the National Capital, is well connected to almost all major cities of the country by rail/air network. Institute is situated at the walking distance from Jhandewallan Metro Station. The approximate distance of the institute from the major railway terminals/airport, in Delhi and approximate Taxi / Auto fare to reach CPRTI is furnished below for convenience of the candidates.

ACCOMMODATION CHARGES
A token rent of Rs. 35/- per head per week is payable in advance for the entire course duration in lump sum.
CANTEEN

The Institute has a canteen which is run by a Private Contractor to meet the boarding requirements of the trainees. The present minimum boarding charge is Rs. 1260/- per month.
